Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising

Movie Rating: Geoffrey Crété

With the arrival of their second baby, Mac and Kelly decide to move to a new home in the suburbs. But when they put their home up for sale, they are horrified to discover they have new neighbors: members of a sorority who want counter sexism and the rigidity of the university system by holding wild parties. Because the potential buyers of their house have 30 days to recant and the sorority has transformed the street into permanent party, Mac and Kelly again go into action...

The fact that there is a Neighbors 2 is no surprise given the success of its 2014 predecessor starring Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne and Zac Efron. The second installment of the comedy franchise is just as stupid and vulgar as the first, placing its characters into contrived situations for cheap laughs. But it’s also well-crafted idiocy, offering an entertaining movie to fans of the genre. It also is topical on the subject of feminism in Hollywood, enough to make it seem a little less stupid at first.
