Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu?
The daughters of a bourgeois and catholic family marry a Muslim, a Jew and a Chinese.
The Verneuil family comes from the great, provincial, catholic bourgeoisie with a penchant for Old France. Over the years, it has reluctantly welcomed a Muslim, a Jew and a Chinese son-in-law into the family. The parents have since seen their vision of a traditional French family disintegrate. Hope remains with the youngest daughter, who may yet offer them a big church wedding. A wish that comes true, except for the fact that the she is about to marry is from… the Ivory Coast!
Situation comedy, witty banter, crazy characters and politically incorrect humor: without a doubt, Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au bon Dieu ? wants to be a blockbuster comedy. This movie may yet get its wish, as Philippe de Chauveron (L'Elève Ducobu) uses all the trademarks of the genre to captivate, amuse and entertain the audience. The solid ensemble of actors led by Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby, who give real life to the dialogue, are a major plus.
