Ridiculed after she publishes a book on the paranormal with her friend Abby Yates, Erin Gilbert backpedals on her beliefs to integrate herself into a prestigious New York university. But when the work resurfaces and threatens her career, she teams back up with Abby to address the problem. Gilbert then discovers that Yates has continued her research with the help of the eccentric scientist Jillian Holtzmann, who is convinced that ghosts do exist. And when a man calls them in to deal with a ghost that appears in his old house, they find out that their theory has been confirmed...

Much has been said about the reboot of 1984’s successful Ghostsbusters, resulting in a wave of indignation and misogynistic insults when Paul Feig cast a quartet of women. But what if you pare all the controversy, the fiery accusations and the debates on gender and sexism down to one essential question: is it any good? Unsurprisingly, the reality is far from extreme. 2016’s Ghostsbusters is neither revolutionary nor a disaster. Like Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the movie is weighed down by its need to retread the original and indulge in too many references to the original. After the success of Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy, Feig seems less at ease in this $150 million Hollywood production, which lacks true comic energy and rhythm worthy of the name. It is nonetheless funny and ambitious, with cheerfully kitschy art direction and very funny actresses - especially Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon, who would have deserved more screen time. Something for summer audiences and a good alternative to the modern franchises.
