Thor is cast out of the Kingdom of Asgard to Earth, where he learns to be a hero.

Just before he is supposed to succeed his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) reignites an ancient war, so he is stripped of his powers and banned to earth. There he falls to the feet of a scientist named Jane (Natalie Portman) and her team. At first reluctant, they help the blond god of thunder in his search for his powerful hammer, catching the attention of several dark secret agents. But danger also comes from Asgard, where a conspiracy threatens not just the kingdom, but all mankind.

Having Shakespeare expert Kenneth Branaghs direct Thor turns out to have been a good idea for this comic book saga, which is nicely enhanced with CGI and 3D. Unfortunately, Thor is not the most interesting character in the Marvel universe.
